System and order are essential in textile production. The way a fabric is woven follows precise rules. Vertical threads, called warp or male threads, set the direction. The horizontal threads, the weft, or female threads, weave their way between the strands to create a fabric. Elena Corvaglia breaks this industrial logic in her video work. In the rhythm of the heartbeat, the threads run in individual sequences as a grid, as a matrix. The threads always remain in sync but change their conduct. Threads are pulled and the grid unravels. Thus the system of masculine and feminine dissolves, the weave falls out of the grid, the matrix shows errors.
